EMILY BURGESS
Emily Burgess is a dedicated Paralegal / Victim Advocate and recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Health Studies and English with a concentration in the English Honors Program. Her academic work centered on the intersection of culture, media, and ethics, culminating in an honors thesis examining the commodification and ethics of life writing.
Emily brings a diverse background in clinical care, nonprofit communications, and team leadership. She previously served as Clinical Support Staff at a specialty hospital for medically fragile children, where she supported patient care, monitored regulatory and policy updates, and collaborated closely with clinical teams to ensure high-quality, consistent treatment.
A throughline in Emily’s work is her commitment to advocacy and community-centered service. While interning at a nonprofit in London, she witnessed the systemic barriers faced by people experiencing homelessness and used communications and outreach to elevate stories that are often overlooked. This passion also animates her work in health and education—from assisting medically fragile children in clinical settings to mentoring young readers through local literacy programs.
At Notre Dame, Emily demonstrated a strong commitment to community well-being. She chaired the Wellness Committee for her Class Council, co-founded and served as Treasurer and advisor for the Global Health Club, and contributed to community-based health research addressing emergency-service overutilization in South Bend, Indiana.
In her current role as a paralegal, Emily supports complex litigation matters while continuing to develop skills in research, writing, and client-centered advocacy. Outside of the office, Emily can be found studying for the LSAT, running along the lakefront trail, or reading.
