Michelle Smith is a Law Clerk at Gould Grieco & Hensley and a rising second-year law student at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Committed to protecting the planet and the humans that live on it, she currently serves as the President of Loyola’s Environmental Law Society.

Hailing from the region called “Cancer Alley” in Louisiana, Michelle witnessed firsthand the harms of corporate negligence and developed a strong interest in mass torts and class actions. She graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Economics and minors in Energy and History. In her studies, she developed her analytical skills by interpreting complex data to understand how environmental harm can be quantified as monetary damages.

While in college, she also completed a judicial internship in Dallas, Texas under the Honorable Judge Martin Hoffman in the 68th Civil District Court. During her internship, she performed organizational duties for the Court and received lectures from the Judge on civil court proceedings.

In her free time, she enjoys bouldering, playing video games, and freestyle dancing.
