What the Records Show

  • In August 2019, Clements was suspended from ministry following an allegation that he repeatedly sexually abused a boy beginning in 1974 — when the victim was 7 years old — through 1979, including at the rectory of Holy Angels Church. The allegation was referred to the Archdiocese’s Office for Child Abuse Investigations, the Illinois DCFS, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In February 2022, an $800,000 settlement was reached between the Archdiocese and five individuals who accused five priests of abuse, including Clements connected to this allegation.
