Father John Calicott

Father John W. Calicott was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1974. He served at St. Ailbe, Holy Name of Mary, and Holy Angels Parish in Chicago. He also served on the Archdiocese’s Clergy Review Board, responsible for monitoring the careers of other priests, including those accused of abusing minors. He was laicized in 2009 and died in May 2024.

What the Records Show

In May 2023, the Illinois AG’s Report identified Calicott among credibly accused Archdiocese of Chicago clergy, noting seven reported survivors with alleged abuse between 1976 and 2002 across Chicago and Kentucky.
In August 2019, an $8 million settlement was reached with the Archdiocese of Chicago over allegations that Calicott sexually abused a boy in the 1990s.
