Father Robert Boley

Father Robert Boley is a member of the Carmelite religious order who served at parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Archdiocese of Chicago. In the late 1980s, he served as a math and homeroom teacher at St. Cyril Catholic School in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood, at 6423 S. Woodlawn Ave. He was removed from ministry in 2006.

What the Records Show

In May 2023, the Illinois AG’s Report identified Boley among credibly accused Archdiocese of Chicago clergy.

The Archdiocese had added him to its substantiated allegations list in October 2022.

In 2022, it was announced that a $1.75 million settlement had been reached between the Archdiocese and the Carmelites with a woman who alleged Boley repeatedly sexually abused her as a fifth-grade student at St. Cyril Catholic School in the 1980s.
In July 2007, Boley was named in a $660 million mass settlement between the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and survivors of clergy sexual abuse.
In October 2006, following a child sexual abuse lawsuit in Los Angeles, Boley was removed from public ministry.
