The Case

What Allegedly Happened at The Crème School in Glenview

GGH Partner Steven Vanderporten represented a Northbrook family in a civil lawsuit filed in June 2026 against KinderCare Learning Companies, Crème de la Crème, and former daycare employee Tahgred Mohamed, following alleged incidents at The Crème School in Glenview, Illinois.

In February 2026, the family was notified that their son had allegedly been grabbed by the hair, lifted by the neck and shoulders, and thrown onto a cot by Mohamed during nap time at the facility on Patriot Boulevard. However, it was not until April 2026 — nearly two months later — that Glenview police informed the family that their daughter had also allegedly been harmed by the same employee on the same day.

According to the family, the daycare never disclosed the alleged incident involving their daughter. Surveillance footage allegedly showed Mohamed pounding on the girl’s back, covering her head with a blanket, kicking her cot across the room, and throwing objects at her.

Mohamed was charged with five counts of misdemeanor battery in connection with both children. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) confirmed an open investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

Your Attorneys

GGH Is Fighting for Families Like Yours

If your child was harmed at a daycare facility in Illinois, you may have legal options. GGH Law represents families in civil cases involving daycare negligence, failure to supervise, and failure to disclose incidents of alleged abuse.

Daycare facilities have a legal duty to protect every child in their care. When they fail to properly screen employees, ignore warning signs, or conceal incidents of harm from parents, they can be held accountable. The same applies to the corporations that own and operate these facilities — when a parent company profits from a network of daycares, it also shares responsibility for ensuring those facilities are safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions Parents Are Asking

Yes. If your child was allegedly harmed at a KinderCare or Crème de la Crème location, you may have grounds for a civil lawsuit. A civil claim is separate from any criminal charges and can seek compensation for physical harm, emotional distress, and other damages. An attorney can review the specific circumstances of your case.
Warning signs can include unexplained bruises or marks, sudden changes in behavior such as fear of going to daycare, nightmares, regression in development, or your child disclosing something that happened to them. If you notice any of these signs, document them and speak with your child’s doctor.
First, ensure your child is safe and seek medical attention if needed. File a report with local police and contact the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Document everything — dates, what your child said, any visible injuries. Then contact an attorney to understand your legal options before speaking further with the daycare or its parent company.
No. GGH Law handles these cases on a contingency fee basis, which means you pay nothing unless we win your case. Your initial case evaluation is completely free and confidential.
Criminal charges are brought by the state and can result in fines or jail time for the accused. A civil lawsuit is brought by the family and seeks financial compensation for harm caused. Both can proceed at the same time. In the KinderCare case, Tahgred Mohamed faces criminal battery charges while the family is also pursuing a separate civil lawsuit against Mohamed, The Crème School, and KinderCare Learning Companies.
KinderCare Learning Companies acquired Crème de la Crème in 2022, making it one of the nation’s largest private childcare providers. The civil lawsuit filed by GGH Law names KinderCare Learning Companies as a defendant alongside Crème de la Crème and the former employee, alleging the parent company shares responsibility for what happened at the Glenview facility.
