Matt Weiss, former University of Michigan assistant football coach, has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in a major student data breach case.

Federal prosecutors allege Weiss used university login credentials to access private accounts of over 3,000 student-athletes and alumni, downloading sensitive content including personal photos and medical information. Investigators say more than 150,000 individuals were affected.

Weiss faces a 24-count indictment and was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Separately, two women filed a class-action lawsuit against Weiss, the University, its Board of Regents, and a third-party data vendor. The suit alleges negligence and emotional harm caused by the exposure of private information.
