On Thursday, Gould Grieco & Hensley announced the filing of a lawsuit against Fordham University on behalf of several survivors of on-campus child sexual abuse committed by Fordham Priest Fr. John Joseph McCarthy.
According to the complaint, Fr. McCarthy would go into the surrounding Bronx community and invite children to play sports on campus. After the children were done playing, Fr. McCarthy would invite them for candy, soda, and other sweet treats in Fordham University buildings, including his on-campus residence. After luring the children into the on-campus buildings, he would subsequently sexually abuse them, and take nude photographs of them.
Fr. McCarthy was a Fordham University priest from 1956-1992, while he was simultaneously working as a Professor for Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Services.
