The Allegations Against Ronnie Fazzini

Serious allegations were made against Ronnie Fazzini, who until recently worked as a staffer at the youth residential facility. How was the questionable breach of professional ethics uncovered? A set of letters were discovered by the 16-year-old’s guardians, who promptly complained to West Virginia’s Department of Health and Human Resources, the protective services-like government body that is responsible for placing the girl at Pressley Ridge school. After all, they are tasked with oversight, keeping minors safe, conducting abusive investigation-style visits at minors’ homes, and the like.

State Police, when they were later tipped off about the crime, conducted the investigation after the fact, gathering all notes and conducting interviews. 

Fazzini is charged with three counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust in what underscores the complexities of legal definitions surrounding sexual abuse. In West Virginia, to give sexual abuse a broad scope, the law notes sexual abuse need not involve touching and may include such things as emotional manipulation or other coercive behavior in settings in which the person so treated is a dependent on caregivers or an authority figure in that person’s place of residence.
