Introduction

In July 2025, Gould Grieco & Hensley, PLLC, and Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, PLLC, filed a lawsuit alleging that Roblox allowed the grooming, exploitation, kidnapping, and rape of a 13-year-old girl. 

In May 2025, the victim met an adult predator on Roblox without her parents’ knowledge, was groomed, and then kidnapped from her grandmother’s home in West Des Moines, Iowa. She was trafficked across multiple states, where she was repeatedly sexually abused and raped.

Roblox allegedly created a digital hunting ground for predators while falsely marketing their platform as safe for children. It allegedly prioritized growth over child safety by failing to implement basic protections, such as age verification and effective parental controls. Default settings allegedly made it easy for adults to contact children, and Roblox reportedly admitted to investors that it was unable to prevent inappropriate interactions, even though it publicly claimed otherwise.

GGH and Milberg represent over 400 alleged victims of abuse on platforms like Roblox and Discord, emphasizing the systemic failures that enabled such exploitation.

Recent Allegations and Lawsuits involving Roblox and Discord

In recent years, Roblox and Discord have been linked to several allegations and lawsuits regarding the exploitation of minors. Reports indicate that predators have used Roblox to target children, leading to over two dozen arrests since 2018 for cases involving abduction and abuse.

2025

  • A Texas family sued Roblox and Discord, alleging that a 13-year-old girl was groomed and exploited by a predator she met on Roblox, who later used Discord to continue communication, gain access to her home, and record the abuse.
  • Christian Scribben was accused of using Roblox to manipulate children into producing explicit material, including directing them to harm their younger siblings while recording the abuse, with evidence reportedly found in conversations on Roblox, Discord, and text messages.
  • A California lawsuit alleged that Roblox and Discord failed to prevent the exploitation of a minor who was coerced into sharing explicit photos after a predator contacted her through Roblox’s “whisper” feature, despite her profile indicating she was a minor, and later convinced her to share her Discord username.
  • Matthew Naval was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl he met on Roblox.
  • A lawsuit accused Roblox and Discord of enabling Sebastian Romero to groom a 13-year-old boy into sending explicit photos and videos, with evidence suggesting he may have exploited over 25 other minors.

2022

  • Shane Patrick Penczak from Florida was charged with exploiting a 13-year-old boy by offering gift cards and Robux in exchange for explicit photos and videos. 
  • A 15-year-old girl from Indiana went missing for eight days after being groomed by Arnold Castillo, a Roblox developer from New Jersey, who used pseudonyms, sent her gifts to build trust, and allegedly referred to her and others as “sex slaves” in private chats while engaging in multiple sexual encounters.
  • A lawsuit filed in California accused Roblox, Discord, Snapchat, and Meta of enabling adult men to sexually and financially exploit a young girl, pressuring her to drink, misuse prescription drugs, send explicit photos, and send money to one of them.

2020

  • Clinton McElroy reportedly traded Robux for explicit images from an 8-year-old girl.
